Brayden Cuthbert: 2 Goals
In their last home game of the regular season, the Wheat Kings dropped a 6 – 3 decision to the visiting Central Plains Capitals.  The loss drops the Wheat Kings down to third place in the West Division, 3 points behind the Pembina Valley Hawks and 1 point behind the Southwest Cougars.  The Hawks and Cougars also have a game in hand over the Wheat Kings.

Despite a 2-goal performance by Brayden Cuthbert, the Wheat Kings could not get the upper hand on the Capitals tonight.  The Capitals held 2 – 0 and 4 – 3 leads at the period breaks.  Taylor Wells scored the other Wheat King goal.

Riley Feser got the start in net for the Wheat Kings, but was relieved by Ryan Thorpe after allowing 3 goals in the first 25 minutes of the game.  The Wheat Kings outshot the Capitals 30 - 23.

The Wheat Kings will finish the regular season on the road with two tough games against the Southwest Cougars and then the Winnipeg Wild.

Jesse Linner: 1 Goal

Cody Nelson: 1 Goal
The Winnipeg Thrashers ended the Wheat Kings winning streak tonight by defeating them 3 – 2 at the Gateway Arena in Winnipeg.  The loss, combined with a Pembina Valley Hawks victory against Central Plains caused the Wheat Kings to slip down into second place in the West, one point behind the Hawks and only one point ahead of third place Cougars.

The Thrashers were up 2 – 0 before Jesse Linner got the Wheat Kings on the board in the second period.  The Thrashers scored again short-handed to regain the 2-goal lead.  Cody Nelson buried one for the Wheat Kings to close the gap, but that was as close as the black and gold would get despite outshooting the Thrashers 42 – 25.

Ryan Thorpe turned aside 22 shots in a losing cause.
